THE CHALLENGE
What needed solving?
Explained with slides and datasheets, Foster's mechanism of action and clinical value stay abstract to physicians, and what breathlessness actually feels like never comes across at all.
Chiesi's need was clear: at congresses and field visits, physicians shouldn't just hear about Foster, they should experience it firsthand and remember it.
APPROACH
How we solved it.
We chose to let physicians live the story rather than read it. Three decisions shaped the experience:
Empathy first, data second
It opens with the patient's breathing journey; the physician feels breathlessness firsthand before a single clinical figure appears.
Natural hand-tracked interaction
The physician operates the inhaler with their own hand. We gave them control, a participant, not a viewer.
A journey inside the body
A scale shift from inside the device down into the airways makes the Modulite mechanism visible to the eye.
A modular framework
Built to carry new products, languages and disease areas on the same foundation.
THE SOLUTION
For Chiesi, we built a Meta Quest 3 VR experience that lets physicians live Foster's story rather than read it. It opens with the breathing journey of a patient who loves nature: walking means freedom, but as the slope steepens, the breath quickens and the chest tightens. Before a single clinical figure appears, the physician feels firsthand what breathlessness means in asthma and COPD.
Then the patient takes the inhaler, and the scale shifts. Using hand tracking, the physician picks up and operates the inhaler with their own hand, descending first into the Foster device and then deep into the airways. Held as a homogeneous solution by Modulite technology, the medication becomes extra-fine particles that travel through the large and small airways, and the physician watches inflamed tissue heal in real time as breathing comes back under control.
This turns an abstract mechanism and clinical evidence into something felt and remembered, a far stronger way to communicate Foster's value than any presentation. Built as a standalone Meta Quest 3 application, the experience is field-ready, and the same modular framework is designed to carry new products, languages, and disease areas.
